  • How Many Beauty Uniforms Do You Really Need?

white question mark on a pink background

This is a very good question! There are a lot of things to consider when deciding how many beauty uniforms you might need. We’ve discussed some different factors to help you find your optimum amount of uniforms...

    .

    Weather

Florence Roby Malfa Tunic in Teal

Do you work in an environment that’s sensitive to weather changes? If the answer is ‘yes’, then you should definitely consider having at least two uniforms - one for summer and one for winter. If you want something to keep you toastier during the colder months, our Malfa Tunic would be a great option! Featuring ¾ length sleeves and a high neckline, it will stop you feeling the chill, despite being made from a breathable Softex fabric.

If your salon gets warm during the summer months, you should definitely check out our crepe fabric range! The collection’s beauty tunics and trousers are made from a lightweight and high-quality material, which is designed to keep you cool and comfortable in the workplace.

    .

    Colour

Florence Roby Lucca Tunic and Slim Leg Trousers in Black

If you love colour, we recommend that you pick out three uniforms so you don’t get bored. A good idea is to choose a versatile uniform to begin with (e.g. our gorgeous black Lucca Tunic & Slim Leg Trousers), and then decide what other colours you want to add to your beauty wardrobe.

As well as black, our core colours include grey, plum and teal. We also have discontinued colours such as cobalt blue, taupe, pink and red in our sale range, so you’ll be spoilt for choice!

If you already have black trousers and are just looking for a slight pop of colour, you should pair them with our gorgeous Teano Tunic!

    .

    Practicality

You’ve also got to think about it from a practical perspective. If you only have one salon uniform, you will have to deal with the process of getting it clean in time for the next day.

Choosing to have two or three uniforms means that you won’t ever have this problem. Instead, you can sit back and relax in the evening rather than worrying about getting your uniform washed and dry! If you want an easy, all-in-one piece, then one of our stunning dresses such as the Dasa Dress could be the perfect way to mix things up.

    .

Order Your New Florence Roby Uniform Sets

Ultimately, we recommend purchasing at least two uniforms, and ideally three!

  • How to Keep Your Salon Cool

Interior of a modern beauty salon

Summer has officially arrived! Here at Florence Roby, we couldn’t be happier that the sun has finally come out to play. But we’re also aware that at this time of year, beauty salons, hairdressers and spas can get a little overheated! To help combat this, we’ve come up with some top tips to help keep your beauty business cool and comfortable during the warmer months.

    Invest in air conditioning

    A portable air conditioning machine

You won’t need to use air conditioning all year round in Britain, but when you need it, you really do need it! Installing permanent air conditioning is probably a bit unnecessary, but opting for a portable air conditioning unit can be a great alternative. With decent models starting at around £300, it’s a worthy investment that is beneficial for both your staff and customers.

    .

Put up some curtains or blinds

Blocking the sun is one of the best ways to keep the heat at bay. If you’re worried that covering your windows will make customers think that you’re closed, then half-open blinds or just having the curtains closed during the hottest point of the day could be an option. In our opinion, putting up a lovely pair of curtains is a great way of sprucing up your salon, so it's a win-win!

    .

    Keep everyone hydrated

Hydration is key when the temperatures are high. You should always offer a cold drink to your customers, and try and encourage your co-workers to keep hydrated too! Keeping jugs of water around the salon would definitely be appreciated, especially on a particularly hot day. You could even go the extra mile and make some homemade lemonade!

    .

    Wear a lightweight uniform

Florence Roby Grado Tunic and Crepe Parallel Trousers

Whilst all of our uniforms are made from a breathable material, we have recently launched a special crepe fabric range that’s designed to help you stay cool. Lightweight and high-quality, the material is also incredibly easy to care for. Check out the gorgeous Grado and Tropea Tunics, which both look fab when paired with the Crepe Parallel Trousers

  • Update Your Salon on a Budget

    Beauty Salon...

Is your salon starting to look a little worn and outdated? Whilst you’re waiting for your next refurbishment, there are some small things you can do to give it a boost in the meantime! Check out our top tips to help you update your beauty business on a budget.

    .

    1. Make a good first impression

    Paintbrush in pink paint.

First impressions really do count, which is why it’s important to make the outside of your salon look inviting and enticing. It can be something as simple as a lick of paint, or making sure that your windows are sparkling clean.

In terms of branding, minimalism is keyit’s best to avoid having lots of text on your salon sign, and you should ensure that your window displays are completely free of clutter.

    .

    2. Rearrange your salon

You don’t need to buy loads of new and expensive furniture to revamp your salon. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple rearrangement. If you run a hair salon, consider swapping your backwashes with your styling chairs to mix things up. For a returning customer, it will feel like a fresh, new experience but at no additional cost to your business.

    .

    3. Accessorise

Interior of a beauty salon, featuring large mirrors

Accessorising is an easy way to rejuvenate your salon, and doesn’t have to cost a fortune! A few faux plants, some new magazine holders and couple of lamps would be a great start. If you want to go further, you could add some more mirrors to brighten up your salon, and make it seem bigger than it actually is!

    .

    4. Invest in a new uniform

Florence Roby Malfa Tunic and Culottes in Teal

Ultimately, people make a place. And in the case of a salon, beauty workers and the services they provide are the most important part of any customer experience! With that in mind, it is essential that your team’s uniform is on point.

As a luxury uniform provider, we have a range of styles, sizes and colours to choose from. The beauty tunic and trousers combination is a classic option for many salon workers, and conveniently, many of our tunics have matching dresses available if you fall in love with a particular style. Once those new uniforms arrive, your salon will feel totally revitalised!

  • A Colour Guide: Beauty Uniforms to Match Your Salon

a luxury lilac coloured hair salon

In our previous blog post, we spoke a lot about what uniform styles would best suit salon workers. But what about colour? In the beauty industry, colour is a very important part of a business’ image. Unlike style, deciding on a salon wear colour is less about the individual worker, and more about the brand.

So what colour uniform would best match your salon’s interior and branding?

    .

    Black Uniforms

A Florence Roby Enzo Tunic in Black

Black is one of the most popular colours because of its versatility and chicness. A black uniform would go particularly well with branding/decor that contains white, red, purple, light green and other bold colours. It is best to avoid a black uniform if your salon has navy and dark green shades, as these would most probably clash.

Nearly all of our beauty tunics, trousers and dresses include a black option. One of our favourites is the Enzo Tunic, which we think looks particularly striking in black.

    .

    Plum Uniforms

a Florence Roby Calvi Tunic in Plum

Plum is another versatile colour and a popular choice among beauty workers. If your salon contains shades of green, yellow, silver, or gold then a plum uniform would look fantastic. Plum would also match well with rose gold and cream.

Our Calvi Tunic is a stunning option in plum. With a square neckline, structured shape and added pockets, it is both elegant and practical.

    .

    Teal Uniforms

A florence roby lucca tunic in teal

One of our favourite uniform colours is teal. It best suits contrasting shades such as mustard, copper, maroon and gold. If you have a grey interior, then a teal uniform would also complement it beautifully.

Our Lucca Tunic looks particularly lovely in teal. The simple design and flattering fit allows the blue-green tones to radiate.

    .

    Grey Uniforms

A florence roby dasa dress in grey

Whether you’re looking for a dress or tunic/trouser ensemble, we have loads of stunning grey options available. What’s particularly great about this colour is that it goes well with a variety of shades. Grey looks best with light colours such as mint green, lilac, cream and baby pink, as well as teal. If your brand includes any of these colours, then grey is definitely the uniform colour for you.

For the perfect grey dress, take a look at our Dasa Dress. With its mandarin-style neckline and sewn-in obi waist belt, it is the essence of sophistication.
