Meet the FLORENCE ROBY Team: Chloe

As we continue with our meet the team blog series, we talk to Florence Roby’s dispatch manager. If you’ve ever wondered who ensures your order gets from our sewing machines to your business, meet Chloe. She’s our despatch dynamo, who’s been keeping things moving since she was 16!

Name:

Chloe Jones

Job title:

Despatch manager

How long have you been working with Florence Roby?

I first joined Florence Roby as a summer job at 16. After college, I came back aged 19 and have never left. I’m 26 now and still going strong. You could say Florence Roby went from being a summer job to a second home!

Tell us a little bit about the job you do…

My job is to make sure parcels go out and everything gets where it’s supposed to go on time and in perfect condition. I pick the orders from the shelves and despatch them to colleges, beauty salons, internationals spas and single customers. I also make sure there is enough stock going through our warehouse. If something’s running low I sort out dockets, pass them to the cutting team and keep everything flowing. Basically, if it’s leaving the Florence Roby warehouse and going somewhere, it comes through me.

What does a typical day look like for you?

It’s go-time from the minute I walk in. I start by checking new orders on the system and getting them picked and packed. If we’re short on stock, I raise dockets and send them to the cutting team to keep production moving. Once the stock comes back, I match it to orders and get it out the door. I also help prep work for the sewing team, so they’re ready to go. It’s a bit like being air traffic control, just with uniforms!

What do you enjoy most about working for Florence Roby?

Definitely the people. Everyone’s friendly, supportive and ready to help – whether it's work stuff or something personal. If I’m having a tough day, someone will always be there to listen with a cuppa and some good advice.

What’s a skill you bring to the team that you’re particularly proud of?

I’m a quick learner – especially under pressure. A while back, we started sending orders to a company that ships to boats. Our products had to be dropped off at ports at just the right time, so they were there when the boats docked. I had to learn the ins and outs of new couriers, different types of paperwork and tight shipping schedules. Making sure I’d filled in everything correctly was overwhelming at first, as it could affect the shipment and its delivery schedule, and I asked a lot of questions, but I got the hang of it.

If you could switch jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?

I’d love to try cutting. I was quite artsy growing up and I imagine it’d be therapeutic.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Flying! Imagine zipping off somewhere new every week – no airports, no delays. Plus, visiting my family abroad would be so much easier. I would go wherever I wanted, whenever – I’d be somewhere new every week.

What’s your go-to comfort food?

Brownies. Always brownies. I just can’t resist. If I’m out for dinner, dessert must be a brownie, I’m not picking anything else. And chocolate, I love chocolate too.

What do you do when you want to relax?

My idea of winding down is a bit unconventional – I hit the gym. There’s something satisfying about working it all out after a busy day. After the gym there is no better feeling than coming home, having a shower and cosying up on the sofa to watch the telly with fresh hair and PJs.

What’s the weirdest thing on your desk right now?

I have a small crochet jellyfish; my sister made it for me it is a joke. I got stung by one while swimming in Greece two years ago and ended up with a tentacle-shaped mark on my arm for weeks. She made the jellyfish to ‘commemorate’ the moment and now it lives on my desk.
